Tehran is willing to reinitiate atomic discussions with the United States on condition that it is treated with "respect" and "honor", Tehran's foreign minister has declared.

The Iranian diplomat stated only diplomacy was effective, and disclosed recent overtures had originated from go-betweens to resume discussions with the Trump administration. He said Iran had zero unreported enrichment locations, and Tehran could not yet authorize the global atomic watchdog to inspect attacked atomic facilities for protective measures.

Navigating a Complex Route

Araghchi is navigating a challenging course since Iran wishes not to be perceived to be operating from a stance of vulnerability, and he emphatically stated that Iran had emerged stronger in military terms and psychologically from the joint assault on its enrichment centers in June.

He was talking at a defense forum in Tehran where he restated that Iran had "an absolute privilege to refine atomic fuel on home soil that it will perpetually retain" – the main reason of the impasse in the previous talks.

Prior Discussions Unexpectedly Ended

The earlier sessions of talks between the US and Iran were brought to an abrupt and acrimonious end on 12 June when the Israeli government, with Washington's assistance, targeted Iran's enrichment centers in a fortnight-long engagement that concluded with Donald Trump claiming the sites had been obliterated. Following this, Western states exercised their authority to reimpose global restrictions, but Iran insists they have not had a substantial consequence.

Magic Solution Suggested

Iran's diplomats claimed they felt they had attained a "magic solution" to the uranium processing matter in previous talks, when it was agreed an domestic cooperative with Washington's engagement could process nuclear material. Both sides would have been able to assert triumph since home-based processing would have persisted and the US could be assured that Iran's enrichment initiative was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been agreed in the talks that US nuclear scientists could work within Iranian territory, but that was a natural consequence of the partnership suggestion. Diplomats claimed three times they had secured an understanding with Washington's diplomat the American negotiator only for the arrangement to collapse due to "spoilers in Washington".

Present Position

In what is characterized by Tehran representatives as the conflict of restoration and reconstruction, the foreign minister stated he was confident Iran's defence capabilities "are considerably enhanced than before 13 or 14 June of this year. Every aspect of our defense have been restored. We acquired many lessons from this engagement; we have identified our internal vulnerabilities and the vulnerabilities of the opponent."

He stated: "We successfully passed this war. Our nuclear technology, which they planned to eliminate, stays intact. The installations and gear, if eliminated, will be rebuilt; what is essential is the will of the nation of Iran and then the national cohesion that they sought to undermine, but failed to shatter. The citizens of Tehran have become more resilient, more integrated, and more endorsing of the government and the state in the wake of this attack."
